This song opens with a hypnotic bass groove that is timeless. Louis Johnson was primarily known for his powerful right thumb driven slap bass groves. In this track Louis showcases his excellent pizzicato fingering coupled with dynamics that display his complete mastery of the bass guitar. The Moog synth solo is unforgettably nasty and Q’s horn arrangements are classic. Street Wave is without a doubt in the top 5 best songs by The Brothers Johnson!
This should be re-introduced on the airwaves today. This is timeless and its good!
Who played the keyboard solo on the brothers Johnson song streetwave?
Larry Williams
What an amazing synth solo indeed by the super creative Larry Williams!
Indeed. I rate it as one of the best synth solos ever. I wish I knew which synth was being used.
That is definitely a mini-moog.
