I went to the David Letterman show a few years ago and got to sit in front of the Paul Schaefer band. Will Lee was the bass player. I went up to him and said I used to listen to him with the Brecker Brothers. He smiled and said “those were good times.” At the end of the show he came over to me and shook my hand. That was after he kept tossing me his own brand of picks with his name on them. One of my claims to fame. He was and still is one of the most solid studio bassists around.
I also had the honor to arrange Some Skunk Funk for a big band.
